ANDREW HOGAN is our Climbing Program Coordinator in Greater D.C. and has been volunteering in that role for 3 years. Andrew is full of fun, energy, and compassion and has been running the adaptive climbing program at Sportrock like a well-oiled machine since 2020.
Andrew is also the first person (that we know of) to be officially Catalyst branded. Check out his tat!
We asked Andrew a few questions to allow everyone to get to know him!
What's a favorite story or memory of your time volunteering with Catalyst?
My favorite memory from Catalyst is when I first belayed one of our climbers, Nafij. We became instant friends, and at our next month's climb, he asked me to be one of his guides for running the New York City Marathon!! It was my first Marathon, but Nafij's bright and fun personality made it a breeze. Not only are we still great friends, but I now run as a running guide regularly for blind athletes.
What motivates you to volunteer?
A lot of my energy and joy comes from the communities I am fortunate to be a part of. My motivation to volunteer comes from the desire to help support these communities, and give back to everyone in these communities which help provide me with so much happiness, love, and support
A fun fact about you.
I am a competitive Air Guitar performer, and my stage name is AndyConda
We are so grateful to have you on our team Andrew! Thank you for the dedication and personality you bring to Catalyst DC.
