Amy is our volunteer coordinator for the Nashville Chapter! We are so thankful for her dedication and hard work over the years to bring adaptive adventure to Nashville. Amy has been a member of our team since 2016 and brings an incredible depth of experience both as an adaptive athlete across multiple sports and as a program leader. Amy is a role model in her community promoting, inclusivity, diversity, and equal opportunities for people with disabilities in sport.
This is what Amy has to say!
"I love seeing climbers do something that they didn't think they could do and seeing them progress. I also love seeing the reaction of other climbers at the gym who never considered that a person with a disability could climb and then how everyone cheers each other on, even the other members of the gym who aren't with Catalyst.
"What motivates me is that I, as a person with a disability, have grown up exposed to all kinds of activities and the belief that I could do anything that everyone else can do, just in my own way, but so many people with disabilities haven't had the opportunity to truly experience what's possible for their lives. I love being the one to open their eyes to more possibilities for themselves.
"I am the Executive Director of ABLE Youth, a youth wheelchair sports organization in Nashville. I grew up involved in adaptive sports from the time that I was very young (in Atlanta), and I love getting kids involved in adaptive sports from a young age."
