Welcome to the Atlanta, Georgia Chapter!

We provide life changing, community based, adaptive adventure sports for people with physical disabilities in Atlanta and the surrounding communities.

Adaptive Rock Climbing

Indoor Rock Climbing: We host monthly and weekly adaptive climbing clinics for youth and adults with a wide range of physical disabilities. These sessions are open to all levels of climber from those who have never climbed before to experienced climbers looking for regular opportunities to climb with others.

Location: These indoor climbing programs take place at Central Rock Gym in Atlanta and Kennesaw.

  • Central Rock Gym – Atlanta – 3701 Presidential Pkwy, Atlanta, GA 30340

  • Central Rock Gym – Kennesaw – 2801 George Busbee Pkwy NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144

 

Time:

Wednesdays, 7pm – 9pm,  Central Rock Gym Atlanta

and

1st Saturday of each month, 10am – 12pm. The locations of our monthly climbs rotate between Central Rock Gym Kennesaw and Central Rock Gym Atlanta.

Fee: $10

Volunteer: Interested in supporting our adaptive climbers? We require belay certified volunteers for this role. All climbing volunteers must complete our adaptive climbing volunteer training before beginning. Register below to get started.

Adaptive Cycling

From our home base beside the Silver Comet, we provide adaptive cycling programs for every level of cyclist:

Bike Fitting, Test Ride or Rental

If you have never tried an adaptive bike or you are considering purchasing one but not sure of the exact bike for your needs, come to a bike fitting and take it for a test ride. We have a range of adaptive bikes including handcycles, recumbent trikes and recumbent tandems to try.  At the fitting we will try different bikes and adapt to accommodate the rider's size and function. Email Desiree Desiree@catalystsports.org to schedule a fitting, test ride, or rental.

Community Group Rides

Join us every month for a community ride on the Silver Comet. There are adaptive bikes available to borrow or bring your own to ride with the group. Cycling volunteers provide support along the trail.

Location: The Bike Barn, 4350 Floyd Dr, Austell, GA 30106 (google map)

Fee: $10 to rent. Free if you bring your own bike.

 

Volunteer: Bring your bike and join us to support adaptive cyclists.

Adaptive Mountain Biking

Experience the thrill of being in nature with our Adaptive Mountain Bike Program! 

 

​Riders and Volunteers sign up below to attend.

Location: The Atlanta Chapter rides rotate between different trail heads within our region

Time: 3rd Saturday of each month, Multiple ride times 10:00 am - 1:30 pm

Registration:  Registrations open the 1st of each month

Fee: $10 - $15

 

Adaptive Kayaking

Come and enjoy kayaking on the Chattahoochee River. We use adaptive equipment and trained volunteers to make kayaking accessible to everyone.

Location: Morgan Falls Overlook Park, 400 Morgan Falls Rd, Sandy Springs, GA 30350

Time: Thursday Evenings (twice per month, see dates below) 6pm - 8pm.

Fee: $10

 

Eligibility Criteria: Please ensure you meet all of the ACA Essential Eligibility Criteria prior to registering as a participant. 

 

Volunteer: Interested in supporting the adaptive kayaking program as a volunteer. The role includes transporting boats, helping to transfer participants, making adaptions to kayaks, and being on the water in a kayak as a support person. All aspects of this role are covered in our online training. You do not need to be an experienced kayaker or have your own boat but be willing and able to perform all aspects of the role.
